It Matters: A Nonprofit Organization

Mission Statement

At It Matters, we are dedicated to igniting curiosity in science and engineering among underserved, underrepresented communities and autistic students. Through hands-on education, creative experimentation, and mentorship, we strive to make science and engineering activities accessible, engaging, and inspiring. Our goal is to cultivate confidence, foster a love for lifelong learning, and empower the next generation of innovative problem-solvers who will shape the future.

Founders Goal

Welcome to It Matters. I’m honored to share our mission with you—a mission fueled by curiosity, inclusion, and the belief that science and engineering should be accessible to everyone.

Growing up, I was fascinated by how things work, experimenting with random materials around the house, or asking way too many “why” questions in science class. But as I got older, I realized that not everyone had the same opportunities to explore science and engineering the way I did. So many bright and curious students—especially those from underserved communities, underrepresented backgrounds, and autistic students—don’t always get the resources, encouragement, or mentorship they need to see themselves as future scientists, engineers, or innovators. That’s why I started It Matters – to create a space where kids get the opportunity to learn and experience hands-on in hopes that it sparks interest in science and engineering right from an early age.

Our programs are all about making science and engineering fun, accessible, and inspiring. Through hands-on experiments, interactive workshops, mentorship programs, we aim to spark curiosity. I truly believe that everyone should have the chance to dive into science and engineering and discover what excites them. By creating a welcoming and supportive environment, we’re not just helping students learn—we’re helping shape the next generation of learners.

This journey is only possible with the support of passionate educators, mentors, volunteers, and partners who share our vision. I invite you to join us—whether as a participant, mentor, donor, or advocate—to make a space where everyone belongs. Together, we can empower the next generation to dream boldly, think critically, and change the world!
